Russia upgraded in the Global Innovation Index

Switzerland topped the list, while Russia has been ranked 48th in the Global Innovation Index.

Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Sweden, the Netherlands and the United States of America are the world’s five most innovative nations, according to the Global Innovation Index 2015.

Russia ranks 48 in 2015, upgraded from 49th position in 2014 and 62nd position in 2013. The Global Innovation Index looks at “Effective Innovation Policies for Development” and shows new ways that emerging-economy policymakers can boost innovation and spur growth by building on local strengths and ensuring the development of a sound national innovation environment. China, Malaysia, Vietnam, India are among a group of countries outperforming their economic peers.

Global Innovation Index is published by Cornell University, INSEAD, a business school, and the World Intellectual Property Organisation. It ranks 140 countries and economies around the world, which are scored using 79 indicators.
